His family had economic difficulties and his mother was in poor health, so he stayed home and helped take care of her. Carrey has starred in some of the biggest comedies in the movie industry, including “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “Dumb and Dumber,” “The Mask” and “Liar Liar.” He has also starred in several dramas that were extremely successful, such as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “The Truman Show,” for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Before he became a major figure in Hollywood, Carrey began performing comedy sketches at clubs in Toronto.
