He Went to School With Costar Chelsea Peretti and One of Them Had a Crush
Way back in the '90s, when Samberg was just a wee boy, he was a classmate of comedian and Brooklyn Nine-Nine costar Chelsea Peretti. Apparently she had a crush on him and would call his house and hang up on him.
Bonus Fun Fact: A Ranker Employee Went to Summer Camp with Andy

Growing Up with Sisters Taught Him Nothing
Or rather, it didn't teach him how to be a super sexy guy. "[It taught me] to be comfortable around women. What it didn't teach me was how to hook up with girls. You learn how to make them all want to be your friend."
His Wife is an Indie Darling
It might seem odd that Samberg, a goofy comedy nerd, would be married to a super cool singer/songwriter/harpist, but it turns out that he was a fan of hers from the way back and as luck would have it they had mutual friends who hooked them up. Awwww.
He Wants to Host the Golden Globes
When asked by The Hollywood Reporter if he'd be interested in hosting The Golden Globes he answered as if it was a given. "Of course, are you kidding me? Any comedian would."
He Left SNL Because He Hit a Wall
When he was asked straight up by Glamour why he left Saturday Night Live, he gave a very interesting answer. "For the first time working there, I just hit a wall, emotionally and physically. I needed to start having a life again."
He Admits That His Song "Shrooms" Isn't Great
According to Samberg, "I like the song, but if you heard it probably more than two or three times in a row you’d want to tear your eyes out."
The Lonely Island Met When They Were in Sixth Grade
The three friends that went on to be fake rappers forged their friendship when they met in sixth grade. When they finally moved out of their parents' houses and went to college they named their apartment "The Lonely Island."
The Idea for 7 Days in Hell Was Around for More Than a Decade
In 2015 Samberg starred in the HBO special 7 Days in Hell, a short film about a ridiculously long tennis match that devolves into madness. According to the SNL alum, the idea had been around since he attended summer camp. "[The writer and Samberg] both played tennis and wanted to do something with comedy and tennis, and it was sort of a pipe dream."
He Was a Stand Up Comic for Seven Years
Before making it onto SNL and hitting it big in his digital shorts, Samberg was a stand up for almost a decade, and apparently he spent most of his time on stage eating it. "The cardinal rule of comedy is, if no one’s laughing, it’s your fault, not their fault. I was so hammered and bombing so hard that I forgot the cardinal rule and it got very uncomfortable. But there were two people in the audience laughing real hard, and that was [his Lonely Island buddies] Kiv and Jorm."
